Rest & Restore

Life in cycles…

As the days of our lives cycle into months, years and decades of past and future, how we choose to spend our time on this earth matters.

Where we spend our energy & attention matters.

Where and how we share our love, power and pleasure matters.

Just as mindfully as where we spend our money, so may we, with self-compassionate intention choose to  spend our most precious currency- our own energy.

Our emotional, physical and spiritual energy is our currency. We are allowed to protect it and in fact, it’s necessary in order to stay in integrity and aligned within ourselves.

Here are a couple tips to help guide yourself into alignment with your own unique energy.

1. BE CURIOUS

Notice
your impulsive reactivity or avoidance to external forces beyond your control (weather, other people’s behaviour, media, when your expectations are not met)
Pause
Breathe in your discomfort. Own it. Feel it in your body
Respond
breathe in ‘LET’ & breathe our ‘GO’
Or use other tools to reset expectations and let it go.
Words matter, especially the ones riddled with judgement that we pollute our own headspace with.
Replace those words with their opposite

2. ASSESS

Take honest inventory of relationships that emotionally drain/exhaust you, or make you question yourself or ask too much of your time.

Set Boundaries
Changing how you move forward in relationships can feel uncomfortable, but transformation doesn’t happen without the hard stuff first. Clarify what you need in order to protect your energy and stay aligned with yourself.
You get to communicate this out loud.
The way our people know how to be in relationship with us is if we set boundaries that demonstrate how.

Release
Give yourself permission to let go of relationships that no longer serve you. Maybe you’re evolving in a way that doesn’t align any longer with an old friendship. That’s okay. We can lovingly release people to protect our own energy. Lead with love and be an example of what’s possible.

Slowing and taking time to rest is important to our work moving forward, whatever that work may be for you. Personal, professional, familial, it’s all emotional labor that is both necessary and yet, also potentially depleting.

Let’s remember to take care of ourselves so we may tend to our work with gratitude and ease.
